Akwaaba Mansion

Akwaaba MansionThe New York Times calls it "a return to splendor." Essence magazine says they welcome us with open arms and warm biscuits." Our guests say: "It's the perfect romantic retreat"..."Come by yourself to renew and restore your spirit"..."As a traveler in town on business, it's great to come home to Akwaaba."

Akwaaba means "welcome" in a language spoken in Ghana. From the moment you check in, we go all out to make sure that your stay is comfortable, memorable--exceptional! Enjoy a cool drink on the sunporch or cozy up with tea by the fire in the elegant parlor. Get lost in a good book in the private library or dream the day away under a majestic chestnut tree in the secluded garden. In the morning, awaken to the delicious aromas of a hearty, Southern-style breakfast, and at night, enjoy cookies at your bedside.

Akwaaba Mansion is a meticulously restored 1860s Italianate villa featuring exquisite architectural details, period antiques and elegant Afrocentric touches. Each of the four guest bedrooms captures a different cultural theme and is complete with a sitting area, air conditioning and private bath, some with jacuzzis. Room rates range from $120-$150, including breakfast.

Located in historic Stuyvesant Heights, Akwaaba Mansion is nestled in a quiet, tree-lined community with some of the city's finest brownstones. The landmark neighborhood is rich in culture. Shopping, fine dining and tourist attractions are nearby. Manhattan is only 20 minutes away by subway or car.
